At Seniors Helping Seniors® Northern/Central Westchester and Putnam Counties, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Debra Lang firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Somers, White Plains, Scarsdale, Bedford, Carmel, Brewster and all surrounding areas and towns.

Debra Lang’s interest in providing care to seniors was inspired some time ago, when a friend and fellow church member needed a little help. After 65 years of marriage, Debra’s friend had lost his wife and needed help preparing to move. As Debra helped him pack his apartment, it became clear that he was helping her too.

Says Debra:

“As I packed with my 92 year-old friend, he shared his stories with me, showed me photos, and painted a picture of his rich history. It was such a moving experience that it inspired me to want to help other seniors in my community. It allowed me to experience first-hand how seniors would greatly benefit from assistance and support as they transition through life’s stages and look to protect their independence. Who better to provide that support than another senior – one closer in age, who shares life’s experiences and understands the physical and emotional challenges that come with aging,”

Today, Debra’s agency, Seniors Helping Seniors Central/Northern Westchester and Putnam, provides home care services for the seniors of Somers, White Plains, Carmel, Bedford and surrounding towns and villages. Only Seniors Helping Seniors matches needs, interests and schedule with senior-aged skilled care providers - all over the age of 50.

Debra has lived in Westchester County for the past 25 years. Her professional background is marketing, education and training in health care. Debra demonstrates a strong commitment to the community by participating in social outreach programs and serving as an elder, youth group leader and mentor at the Katonah Presbyterian Church. This commitment and experience serves as a natural match to the Seniors Helping Seniors core values and mission as identified below:
